Welcome!I am a faculty member in the Center for Computational Science and the Department of Computer Science at Middle Tennessee State University. My research is centered on leveraging computational approaches to solve biological problems. I have made contributions in the areas of database retrieval metrics, both pairwise and multiple sequence alignment, phylogeny search, and biological networks. Please visit my Research and Publications pages for more information.
Previous to coming to MTSU, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Computational Biology Branch of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where I was working on algorithms and evaluation criteria for sequence alignment with Dr. John L. Spouge.
Before joining NCBI, I earned a PhD degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University, where I worked with Dr. Mark J. Clement in the area of multiple sequence alignment.
