About MTSU's Computer Science Department
MTSU's Computer Science Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree with two options, the "no emphasis" program accredited by ABET/CAC and the business applications emphasis. These programs include a common core of 29 computer science hours plus 14 mathematics hours. They require different upper division computer science courses. The no emphasis program also requires more science and mathematics courses while the business applications emphasis requires additional business courses. There are over 400 undergraduate majors.
The Department also offers a broad-based Master of Science degree. A student may choose between thesis and non-thesis options. The thesis option enables the student to concentrate in a specific area or to prepare for Ph.D. work. The non-thesis option requires additional course work.
Both bachelors and masters graduates are well prepared for the job market. They have historically been valued by area employers.
